Exercises for Page Setup

Open your MockPrintBook.docx.

It should still be letter-sized (8.5" x 11") with default margins (1" all around).

Exercise 1—Margins

  1. On the Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click the tiny expansion bar in the bottom right corner.
  2. If not showing, click on the Margins tab.
  3. Change the margins to match the standards measurements:
    Margin Measurement
    Top .75"
    Bottom .5"
    Inside .5"
    Outside .5"
    Gutter .16"
  4. Select portrait orientation.
  5. Select Mirror margins for Multiple Pages.
  6. Select Whole document for Applies to.
  7. Leave the dialog box open.

Exercise 2—Paper (Trim Size)

  1. Click on the Paper tab.
  2. Select Custom size for Paper size.
  3. Type 6" for Width.
  4. Type 9" for Height.
  5. Ignore Paper source.
  6. Select Whole document for Applies to.
  7. Click OK to save your settings.

Exercise 3—Hyphenation

  1. On the Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Hyphenation.
  2. Click on Hyphenation Options.
  3. Tick Automatically hyphenate document.
  4. Untick Hyphenate words in CAPS.
  5. Type 2 in Limit consecutive hyphens to.
  6. Click OK to save your settings.

It's hard to see what's been done. The most obvious evidence is the unequal side margins, how much less text there is on each page, and how shortness of each line of text.
